Škoda Extends Sponsorship with IIHF, Introduces NFT Gallery
Czech automobile giant Škoda has announced a five-year extension of its long-standing sponsorship with the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), now set to last until 2027. The collaboration between the car manufacturer and the IIHF began in 1992, making it the lengthiest major sponsorship in any world sporting event’s history.
Ice hockey enthusiasts can look forward to winning exciting prizes, including tickets to the Tampere finals and exclusive NFTs for the 2023 championship. Škoda’s presence will be felt on the ice and in designated fan zones as they continue to sponsor immersive replays shared on IIHF’s social media channels.
NFT Gallery and Unique Goalie Helmets by Škodaverse
Škodaverse, Škoda’s digital metaverse platform, provides an array of exciting features for Ice Hockey World Championship fans. Visitors can enjoy games and interactions with others through custom Škoda avatars and an NFT gallery. One of the most exciting features of the NFT gallery is the unique goalie helmets.
The NFT tokens create a goalie helmet representing each participating nation’s cultural heritage. The initial design was created using artificial intelligence and then realized using 3D visualization techniques. Fans can claim unique tokens and even be in for a chance to win a trip with tickets to the Ice Hockey World Championship Final in Tampere by logging into Škodaverse and entering the competition.
The deal was facilitated by Infront, the exclusive media and marketing partner for the Ice Hockey World Championship. Martin Jahn, Škoda Board Member for Sales and Marketing, also revealed plans to introduce a new logo reflecting the evolution of Škoda Auto and its vehicles.
Škoda, the Czech automobile company, was established in 1895 and offers an extensive range of vehicles, including hatchbacks, sedans, and SUVs. With this latest sponsorship extension and the launch of NFTs, Škoda and the IIHF continue to strengthen their relationship and also enhance the digital world for fans across the globe.
